First LCS Technology Symposium a Success

Lifecycle Service - Sales (LCS), a division of Krones, Inc., concluded its first Technology Symposium on Blow Molders as nothing short of success. The symposium educated Krones customers with new and innovative ways of adapting Blow Molding machines and lines with Krones LCS state-of-the-art upgrades; ultimately increasing machine efficiency thus reducing running costs.

The symposium was held March 3-4, 2008 at the Omni Resort in Orlando, Florida. 30 customers were greeted by Krones staff members. The reception gave everyone the opportunity to reconnect and network with peers in the industry.

“I would like to tell Krones how impressed I was with the entire event. Everything was incredibly organized. The schedule was followed precisely and the information that the Krones experts provided was extremely informative,” said Mary Bivens of Niagara Water.

The LCS Blow Molder Symposium proved to be an eventful day. Topics such as: production of PET containers today and tomorrow, energy savings in container production, modern container design, PET container lightweighting and preventive maintenance were discussed.

Opening comments and introductions were made by Krones Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Hubert Ermer and Peter Hanson, Director of Lifecycle Service - Sales. Following were presentations by Juergen Werner, Programs Specialist, on machine development and Ulrich Lappe, Department Manager – Plastics Technology, on how to cut cost by lightweighting bottle design.

One of the highlights of the day was Thomas Loew, Programs Specialist, with his hands-on, interactive displays of all the LCS upgrades to existing machinery. The audience connected particularly well with the practical examples he presented on machine troubleshooting.

Brian LeBoeuf, LCS Provider, and Thomas Schmidt, Regional Manager LCS -Sales, presented all of the LCS programs encompassing maintenance agreements, parts, retrofitting and other programs in the LCS portfolio.

The symposium concluded with a presentation lead by David Raabe, Director of Plastics Technology, featuring new machines and their unique capabilities.

“Our first LCS Technology Symposium on Blow Molders exceeded its goal by providing solutions for the individual needs and applications for Krones customers. Due to its success, Krones plans to continue additional Technology Symposiums,” said Hanson.
